Looking for a delicious and affordable way to treat Dad this Father’s Day? Skip the expensive brunch and whip up this easy, delicious Skillet Steak & Veggies at home. It’s packed with flavor, easy on the wallet, and sure to make Dad smile.

  • Serves: 2–3
  • Cost: ~$15 total
  • Time: 30 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 lb sirloin or flank steak ($6–$8)
  • 2 medium potatoes, diced ($1)
  • 1 bell pepper, sliced ($1)
  • 1 small onion, sliced ($0.50)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or cooking oil
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Optional: steak seasoning or Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

Prep: Season steak with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and optional steak seasoning. Let it rest at room temp for 10 minutes.

Potatoes: In a large skillet, heat 1 tbsp oil over medium heat. Add diced potatoes and cook for about 10–12 minutes until tender and golden, stirring occasionally.

Veggies: Add another tbsp oil, then toss in the sliced onions and bell peppers. Cook for 5–6 minutes until softened.

Steak: Move veggies to the side of the skillet and add the steak. Sear 3–4 minutes per side (depending on thickness and preferred doneness). Let rest 5 minutes before slicing.

Serve: Plate the steak with the potatoes and veggies. Optional: drizzle a little Worcestershire sauce over the top for a flavor boost.

Why Dad Will Love It

  • It's bold, filling, and fast.
  • One pan = easy cleanup.
  • Affordable ingredients with big flavor.

Final Touch: Pair the skillet with Dad’s favorite drink— juice, or a cold soda—and a handmade card for the perfect low-cost Father’s Day surprise.
