Scam Alert: Fraudulent Phone Calls

Recently, Rio Grande Credit Union members have reported receiving fraudulent phone calls from someone claiming to be a representative from RGCU. This scam includes spoofed phone numbers which appear to originate from Rio Grande.

Here's how the scam plays out:

  • Someone calls acting as an Amazon representative. The fraudsters then request you purchase RGCU gift cards to make a payment. They then indicate RGCU will call you to get your account number in order to purchase the  gift cards.
  • A short while later, you then receive a call from  505-262-1401 (yes, that's RGCU's number). The problem is, ITS NOT US! The scammers are spoofing our number in order to make it appear as if we are actually calling. The caller then asks you for your account information.
