Serving Hope, One Family at a Time- St. Felix Pantry

St. Felix Pantry is a Felician-sponsored ministry dedicated to feeding those in need since 1992. Inspired by the compassion and vision of Sr. Genevieve, who began by sharing bread with neighbors in need, the Pantry has grown from a small, grassroots effort operating out of a car trunk and garage into a vital community resource serving hundreds of families each week. Today, St. Felix Pantry continues that founding mission - providing nourishment, dignity, and hope to individuals and families across New Mexico.

At Its Core

St. Felix Pantry exists to ensure that no one in our community goes hungry. The Pantry provides vital weekly groceries to any New Mexican in need, regardless of income or location. Each week, more than 600 individuals and households receive food support, helping to stabilize families facing food insecurity. In addition to food distribution, the Pantry offers referral services, connecting guests with financial assistance and community resources. Recognizing that food insecurity often intersects with other financial hardships, St. Felix also assists households with utilities and rent when possible, offering a more comprehensive approach to meeting basic needs.

Local Impact

The local impact of St. Felix Pantry is significant and measurable. In FY2025 alone, the Pantry served 27,286 guests and distributed nearly 800,000 pounds of food. More than 200 households received assistance with utilities and rent, and the work was powered by 170 dedicated volunteers contributing over 12,300 hours of service. This extraordinary volunteer commitment reflects the deep community investment in the Pantry’s history and mission.

Partnerships

Strong partnerships further amplify St. Felix Pantry’s reach. Support from churches, foundations, businesses, civic groups, and individual donors makes it possible to expand programs and respond to increasing demand. Over the past year, food donations increased by 6%, and community food drives contributed thousands of additional pounds of food for distribution. St. Felix has also expanded their programs – partnering with Rio Ranch Public Schools to build and administer a school Snack Pack Program, and making sure food gets to where its needed most through our Mobile Food Pantry.

Rooted in the Felician Franciscan tradition of serving both body and soul, St. Felix Pantry remains focused on its vision: to feed the hungry while helping build communities of greater opportunity. Through compassionate service, responsible stewardship, and collaborative partnerships, the Pantry continues to be a lifeline for neighbors in need - ensuring that hope is always on the table.
