Dine on a Dime: Holiday Baked Ham with Brown Sugar Glaze

Christmas Day calls for something warm and comforting — and this baked ham brings all the flavor without the fuss (or the price tag). Using a simple glaze and a few pantry staples, you can serve a centerpiece meal your family will love.

Ingredients

  • 1 pre-cooked ham (6–8 lbs, bone-in or boneless)
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup honey (or maple syrup)
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves (optional for a holiday touch)
  • 1/2 cup pineapple juice or orange juice

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 325°F.
  • Place ham in a large roasting pan and cover loosely with foil. Bake about 15 minutes per pound.
  • While it bakes, mix your glaze — combine brown sugar, honey, mustard, cloves, and juice in a saucepan. Heat over medium until it’s smooth and slightly thickened.
  • In the last 30 minutes of baking, remove foil and brush the glaze generously over the ham.
  • Return to oven uncovered, basting a few times, until the top is golden and caramelized.
  • Let rest 10–15 minutes before slicing.
